History Conference Coming to Chilliwack

The BC Historical Federation Conference is coming to Chilliwack May 25-28th. Members of the Agassiz-Harrison Historical Society receive a discount on registration as our Society is a member of the BCHF.

The conference features a line up of local and provincial experts on topics such as:

  • Chilliwack’s military history;
  • Floods, Dykes and Fraser River maintenance;
  • Genealogy, archives and museum work;
  • Land treaties;
  • Historic architect Thomas Hooper;
  • UFV’s history department;
  • Sikh sites of colonization;

Also included in the conference are options for field trips to:

  • Stó:lō Research and Resource Management Centre;
  • Chilliwack’s historic riverboat landings;
  • Chilliwack’s local hop yards and breweries;
  • Atchelitz Threshermen’s Museum and Balakshin’s farm;
  • Historic downtown Chilliwack walking tour;
  • Cemetery tour
